Traditional Korean Polytheism in Danger (like all traditional polytheisms)

Wow. This is a incredible video that bought tears to my eyes. Very sad. Glad someone is shining a light on this problem.

My friend who is a Mudang in training (if I understand correctly) posted this video on her wordpress. It was a fascinating watch but it made me so angry too… the gods and spirits do not deserve this disrespect. I feel like we’re losing our humanity when we do this 😦

    1. I agree, not only are we disrespecting Something (Someones) ancient and beautiful and powerful, but all humanity loses something when we do this … the natural set point of human beings seems to be polytheist. All cultures were if you go back far enough. And if you talk to children, ones who are allowed to flourish and not have their spirits and imaginations stifled, they talk like the world is alive and we are surrounded by Powers we can’t see. They know it intuitively, until modernity (either secularism or monotheism) beats it out of them. Very sad.
