Offerings for Anubis

Anubis’ sacred plant is the cypress, a tree that Greeks as well as the Egyptians associated with death and mourning. Cypress oil is a great offering, and burning it during ritual is very effective. He prefers strong incense, especially myrrh, cedarwood, and the traditional frankincense. Beer and bread is the standard offering to pretty much any Egyptian God, and He will accept it, but I’ve discovered that He likes strong liqueur, especially rum, much better. Cool water, the traditional Egyptian drink of the dead, is also a good libation. More than one modern Kemetic says He seems to likes spicy food and dark, bitter chocolate.

As a way-walker along the lines of Hekate and Hermes, He likes locks and keys. I’m told by a Kemetic that hematite, obsidian, and tiger’s eye are the stones He likes. His colors are black and gold, and in fact He is sometimes called The Black and Gold God. Since Sirius is His star, images of stars or other celestial phenomenon would be very appropriate. The number nine is possibly sacred to Him, as He was known for defeating the Nine Bows of Egypt.

But don’t forget to honor Him with Your actions. Honor the dead and your ancestors. Leave flowers on a stranger’s grave. Practice some kind of divination or magic, even if it is only privately. Support causes that help orphans and the homeless. Act as a guide to others in some way.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH
I worship Anubis and Diana (which are two different pantheons and it’s weird but it’s what I do) and I found some stuff to honor Diana and small acts of devotion for her and stuff, so I thought I’d make her a little offering jar to take with me to college with stuff like honey and pine needles (because that’s what she likes) and I didn’t even know where to look for Anubis but HERE IT IS
    THANK YOU

    1. You’re very welcome! I’m glad my blog is helping people out with their worship! That’s a big reason I do this. I’ve fallen behind on writing new posts because of Life Stuff (TM), but it’s still really nice to hear feedback like this.

  2. I just came across this blog and I wanted to thank you for writing this. I worship Anubis and Isis and your blog has been extremely helpful to me in adding to my BOS. Again, thanks a lot for your hard work!
    Blessed Be.

Thank you- I recently connected with Anubis’s energy. I more recently have been called to cemeteries and have a better understanding of why I am doing these things I am doing. His energy flows through me. I am honoured.

    1. Yes, his energy is very strong and palpable to me. It sometimes pushes me as much as I can handle. It’s quite blissful, even when I feel death on me.

  6. Thank you sooooooooo much

  7. Is there a certain simple way to speak to Anubis like for him to appear in your dream or what not

    1. There is usually no simple way, and you can’t “make” the Gods do anything They don’t want to. I can tell you that Anubis did not show up strongly for me until I conducted a public ritual for Anubis Going Forth to Visit Every Necropolis (usually sometime in high summer, say early August), when He went to every gravesite and cemetery in to world and can carry messages from the living to their Beloved Dead. I studied for a few months to prepare for the ritual, and His Presence was very strong during it. After that, He just sort of hung around, for a long time. I can say out of all the pantheons I have encountered, the Egyptian Deities seem to like high ritual the best. They lend themselves to complicated ceremonial magic quite well. That said, don’t be afraid to mess up. Just DO. Many new Pagans get so mired in a fear of doing things “wrong”, that they never do anything. Ours in a religion of practice. Just light some candles, have some offerings ready, and say a prayer out loud. Start today, Start imperfectly, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes!

  8. Absolutely,
I worship Anubis too. I have diligently sought anthro energy/beings for 20 years before I connected with Anubis. Not realizing that he had spoken to me even as a kid. The number nine struck home strongly. When I was a kid there was this game that had an audio that was “number nine” backwards. I connect intimately with him though, and often do energy exchanges with him. I offer him my love and commitment. My connection is very deep and profound and I am worshiping him several hours a day.

  9. Could you add what his Symbols are? I actually have 3 Deities lol Hecate, Anubis, And Baphomet, it’s pretty easy finding everything I need for Hecate but I’ve gone through so many websites trying to find anything about Anubis as far as Herbs, Flowers, Crystals, Numbers, Symbols etc, and this is the ONLY legit one I’ve found.

Thank you for making this:) i have a couple questions if anyone could answer them that would be awesommeee.

    1. does Anubis prefer to be called Anpu?
    2. does he accept art and drawings as offerings
    3. what type of drawings would he like if so

  13. Thank you for all the help but does Lord Anubis like blood for his trusted pet Amiit also does his wife like the same stuff?

    1. PLEASE DO NOT OFFER BLOOD TO AMITT. Blood is magically binding, and NOT to be offered lightly. It’s your ESSENCE. I worship Odin and have a deep relationship with Him, and I have never offered him my blood. I have blooded my Runes and offered drops of blood to the Rune-spirits, which are ancient and primal and existed before TIME. And I was working with the Rune-Spirits for YEARS before I did so, and it was something I thought long and hard about, and I don’t do it often.
Amitt is not “Anubis’s pet”, that is incredibly reductive. Amit devours the souls of the unworthy at the Weighing of the Heart ceremony. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT BIND YOURSELF TO THE EATER OF SOULS.

  14. This is all quite interesting to me. I have always loved dogs. I once worked for hospice, but became an herbal healer. I traveled to Egypt and was so fascinated. I bought an Anubis statue there. I have also been researching and writing the stories and history of my ancestors, found their graves, and created much memorial art in their honor. I have had visions of Anubis’ face several times now, particularly when I was praying for healing for my dog- and the healing came through. I feel that I ought to give thanks and offerings. I have enjoyed visiting this site- Thank you very much.

Thank you! I feel like Anubis has watched over me throughout my whole life. I remember he always gave me signs even when I was young, I just wasn’t paying attention. I’m deeply grateful for his help in helping me and guiding me. I can’t visit Egypt right now but I’ll visit in spirit by checking out pyramids in the game Assassin’s Creed:Origins. It’s silly but I’m pretty sure he sees it as an offering to him! ๐Ÿ™‚
